How do you take your coffee?

It’s a question I often ask people in the beginning stages of dating. I find it endearing, more unique then “What do you do for work?”, and it opens up the dialogue in a fun way.

I never really thought about it, but apparently the way you take your coffee says a lot about your personality! For example, if you take your coffee black, you could be a psychopath with sadistic tendencies. (Reflecting on my recent dating endeavour, I’d say this is correct!)

The article linked above writes that there’s a correlation between bitter tastes (from tonic water, black coffee, radishes etc.) and psychopathic personality traits. Apparently if your taste buds enjoy bitter, you may also enjoy inflicting moderate levels of pain onto others! The article even used the term “everyday sadism.”

On the flip side, if you like your coffee sweet or milky you’re likely to be agreeable and have traits like sympathy, and kindness. What an easy way to get a sense of someone’s personality! Coffee black = disagreeable, coffee sweet = agreeable!

Would someone ordering black coffee on a date be a RED FLAG for you? The article does end by saying more research needs to be done blah blah blah. But, due to my personal research in this subject, black coffee? RUN FOR THE HILLS! 😉

  1. What about weirdos who drink decaf or no caffeine at all! Speaking from experience they’re all control freaks 🤫😂
